East Coast FM Fish Head Curry

Heres the place to talk about Fish in general

Dear all,

Regret to say that "Fishhead curry" will not be happening this Monday night (14th December).

As anyone who has listened to the first two shows will have noticed my voice is practically unrecognisable and although I tried to soldier through the two hours by the end of the night I was ragged.

This weekend it has deteriorated further and I can hardly talk just now.The scar tissue on my vocal chords has continued to grow and my voice becomes traumatised with prolonged use.The growths need to be removed through surgery.

With my pre op on Wednesday and the main operation the following week I feel that I can't risk damaging it further and therefore prolonging and endangering the recovery process.
Although my voice sounds dreadful just now it isn't painful, just incredibly frustrating to use and depressing for me to hear.I have been told that it's nothing sinister and that the removal of the scar tissue will bring my voice back to full strength.

Despite the physical barriers and hindrances surrounding my voice I really enjoyed working with Ian Robertson on the 2 out of 4 shows we planned on East Coast Fm and I sincerely hope that the station is provided with a full broadcasting license to continue the great work they are doing down there in Haddington for the East Coast community.

I just want to thank everyone who did listen in and add to the figures, and of course to all the staff, especially Ian and his team who are putting great efforts in to making it happen.

Apologies to anyone who was looking forward to my show but I was fighting a losing battle with my current health issues and need to take a sensible approach to the following few weeks which will hopefully rectify all my vocal problems and get me back on air and singing again next year,

thanks for all your support to East Coast FM and long may it continue,

Have a Happy Christmas and a Glorious and successful New Year

sincerely

Hi Fish! Sorry about the show, but we'd all rather have you healing instead of trying to gut it out and causing yourself unnecessary frustration :o Hope all goes well for you, look forward to hearing your voice in top form again soon :D

Good luck and get well soon,
Melissa

And I'd actually set myself a reminder to tune in tomorrow evening after missing the first two!! :(

Still, short-term loss versus long-term gain! To have the Fishmeister back in full voice is what we all want (easy to say as its not me going under the knife... ).

Like any sensible and far-sighted team manager, it makes perfect sense to pull the stars off at half-time ( :o  ) when you're 9-nil up and save them for the next game.

No apologies necessary big fella - just look after yourself and take care over the festive (and recuperative) period.

As David "hammy" Coverdale once said: "We wish you well!". :)

Sorry to hear about the throat problems and not being able to do the rest of the shows, if it's anything like down here they will have to do anything up to 6 short periods of broadcasting over a couple of years before they get a full license (so there may be more chances), it seems to be a drawn out process but it's worth it when you get a real local station.
For the record our new local station actually played Grendel during one of their probational periods :)

I have a hobby. I have the world's largest collection of sea shells and I keep it scattered on beaches all over the world. You might have seen part of it.
